Every new chapter begins with an ending. So is the story with Shift.

The year was 1994, the class was Offset Printing with Dr. Gullickson. On a September morning, amidst greasy-based inks and industrial paper cutters, two fresh-faced design students first met. A fast friendship was formed and they planned their schedules together, consulted with each other on projects and laid the foundation for what would become a working partnership that would shape their careers.

Fast forward 25 years, having long dreamed of someday forming their own firm, the pair had worked together across multiple agencies and always found a way to work together. Some dreams are fulfilled with long and careful planning and sometimes they take you by surprise. After years working as the successful creative team at McDill Associates, the chapter closed with the passing of their friend and mentor, Melissa McDill.

In life you are occasionally faced with a pivotal moment that changes everything thereafter. This was one of those moments. Knowing they had something special, they took the leap and formed Shift Creative, a boutique creative agency born out of change. With the goal of being smaller, more flexible and efficient, Shift Creative brings a direct-to-designer concept to clients who have a goal of highly creative end products.
